Saxenda price: the $1,349.02 list, no self-pay program, and a discontinued card

Saxenda is liraglutide, a daily GLP-1 injection approved for chronic weight management in 2014. It predates the weekly agents, it has lost most of its market to them, and its pricing shows it: a list price that matches Wegovy's with none of Wegovy's programs underneath.

List price

NovoCare's Saxenda list-price page states $1,349.02 (read September 4, 2026). The page does not say what the figure is per. A Saxenda carton contains five 3 mL pens, and at the 3 mg maintenance dose in the label each pen lasts six days, so a carton is a 30-day supply at maintenance; at the lower titration doses it lasts longer. Treat $1,349.02 as the carton price unless your pharmacy says otherwise.

Self-pay

There is no manufacturer self-pay program for Saxenda on the access date. NovoCare Pharmacy's product list carries Wegovy (pen and pill) and Ozempic (pen and pill) only. A cash-paying patient at a retail pharmacy pays the pharmacy's cash price, which starts from the list price and varies by pharmacy and any discount card the pharmacy accepts. This index does not quote third-party discount-card prices because they change by pharmacy and by day.

Savings offer

NovoCare's eligibility page states that the Saxenda Savings Offer program was discontinued for new enrollees as of June 30, 2023, with benefits for existing enrollees ending December 31, 2023. The same page directs patients who need help with cost to the Wegovy offer. Some third-party pages still describe a $25 or $200-per-prescription Saxenda offer; the manufacturer page does not, and this index follows the manufacturer page.

Generic liraglutide

Liraglutide is the one GLP-1 with FDA-approved generics. Generic Victoza (liraglutide for type 2 diabetes) reached the market in 2024, and generic Saxenda has followed. Availability, price and whether a plan covers a generic for weight management vary; this index does not track generic cash prices because there is no single manufacturer price to cite. Ask a pharmacist for the generic price before paying the brand list.

Medicare and Medicaid

Saxenda is not in the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, which names Wegovy, the Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo. Under the Part D statutory exclusion of agents used for weight loss, Saxenda prescribed for weight management is not a Part D covered drug. Where Saxenda fits on price in 2026

A daily injection at the Wegovy list price, with no self-pay ladder and no active card, is hard to make cheaper than the weekly agents unless a plan or a generic changes the picture. That is a description of the pricing, not a clinical judgement; liraglutide remains an approved option a prescriber may choose for reasons that have nothing to do with price.
